This gorgeous bud vase was hand blown and created by Ice Fire Glass Studio in Cannon Beach, Oregon.

James Kingwell and Suzanne Kindland have both been blowing glass at Icefire Glassworks for decades. A potter and self-taught glass artist, Kingwell’s works showcase spectacular color and form. His “Northern Lights” pieces are calm and serene, and his “Bad Hair Day” series has an undeniable electric energy.

In addition to the dramatically colored glass pieces that line the walls, the gallery’s building is a sight to behold. The door hinges are made of material salvaged from a shipwreck, and the roof is made of recycled metal. Hand-hewn cedar posts and steel brackets complete the rustic 1970s feel.

I watched this piece being created in 1989. in the open furnace where the glass is blown. What starts out as a blob suddenly evolves into this beautiful piece of art right before your very eyes. I get hypnotized watching the whole process and usually have to be told, it's time to go Leslie. This is from the "Northern Lights Collection". It measures 9.5" and holds one bud. Colors are purple & green.

If you ever get the chance to experience the Oregon Coast, I highly recommend stopping by Ice Fire Studio, you will love the privilege of watching these artists at work.
