1860 Cassell's Illustrated Family Bible 900 + Highly Finished Engravings, Old & New Testaments, Chronology

This is a rare 1860 Holy Bible by Cassell, Petter and Galpin, an Illustrated Edition of the Holy Scriptures in the text of the Authorized Version.

It features The Old and New Testaments, Chronology Genesis to I. Samuel, References, Numerous Critical and Explanatory notes, 900 plus highly finished engravings and a Condensed Concordance.

The Bible has the original (and still blank) Family Register, Births, Marriages and Death registry pages. They're located in the front 1st pages of the Bible.

The Bible has a embossed leather cover with gold gilded pages. As you can see, the binder portion came apart and caused just under a 1" rip at the bottom. What is frustrating is I must have caused it because it wasn't there a week ago. ugh

There are no rips in the pages or missing pages. Only in the very front few blank pages are there slight stains, please see the pic. The pic is the worst one, the other 3 pages are slight drop stains.

The whole Bible has beautiful quality pages, no wrinkles or stains. Incredible Illustrations of maps, antiquities, plants, people. It's a wonderful way to visually see the powerful images of the Scriptures. So hard to believe this work-of-art Bible was published in 1860.

I never wanted to let go of this Bible because I love it, but I am having to leave it behind. Probably a good thing, somebody took care of it for 150 years and it was in excellent condition. I get a hold of it and look what happens. When I 1st got this Bible, I would prop that giant thing up on pillows and read it while I was in bed! No wonder the binder separated.

I hope someone sees the love and effort to have it restored. It would be a treasure for many more generations to come.
